A prop firm payout is the scheduled payment of your share of profits from a funded account - the event the whole evaluation model exists to produce. Three mechanics decide it: eligibility (profit thresholds, minimum days, consistency share), the cycle (fixed calendar or on-demand), and any per-request cap.
Worked example: a $100,000 funded account on an 80% split with a 14-day cycle: $5,000 of profit in the cycle pays $4,000. FTMO pays on a fixed 14-day cycle; Topstep requires 5 winning days of $150+ before a request, with per-request caps that double if a daily loss limit was added (both checked 28 October 2026).
Between request and money sits a compliance review - KYC, rule audit, sometimes a risk-desk check - which is where most "payout problems" actually live. First payouts get the deepest look.
