No payout cap at a futures prop firm is real - but it is the top rung of a ladder, not the entry offer. The pattern across the category: the first funded stage carries per-request caps, and the live funded stage pays without them.
Worked example (Topstep, checked 28 October 2026): the Express Funded Account caps requests at $2,000/$3,000/$5,000 at 50/100/150K - doubled to $4,000-$10,000 with the daily-loss-limit add-on. Graduate to the Live Funded Account and payouts are uncapped, with daily withdrawals unlocked after 30 winning days of $150+. FTMO's ladder works differently: Sim-Funded caps of $2,500-$8,000 per request, with a 50% withdrawable limit on Growth versus 100% on Pro.
How to evaluate: multiply the entry-stage cap by the cycle length for the realistic monthly ceiling, and check what evidence moves you to the uncapped stage - the answer is the firm's real product. Caps and minimums in general: payout cap and payout minimums; the category: futures hub.
Contract specifications for the products these firms evaluate are published by CME Group.
