A useful futures prop firm comparison weighs five columns, not brand familiarity: total cost to pass (monthly times months-to-pass, plus activation), drawdown behaviour (EOD trailing and whether it stops at breakeven), the consistency cap, the payout caps, and platform lock-in.

Worked example (figures checked 28 October 2026): at 50K, Topstep costs $49 a month plus $149 activation - $296 for a three-month pass - while FTMO Futures Growth costs $119 a month with no activation - $357 for the same three months, $238 for two. Topstep wins faster passes; FTMO wins slower ones and offers three platforms to TopstepX's one. Payout terms cut the other way: Topstep's caps double with the daily-loss-limit add-on to $10,000 at 150K, while FTMO Pro caps at $8,000.
