Prop firm drawdown rules are the way firms define and enforce loss limits on evaluation and funded accounts. The rule set has three layers: the maximum drawdown (cumulative), the daily loss limit (per session), and the behavioural rules - news windows, weekend holding, consistency - that can breach you without a loss at all.

Enforcement is automatic and final. The platform watches equity tick by tick (or at day close, depending on the firm's definition), closes all positions on breach, and terminates the account. No warning, no appeal, no refund - which is why reading the exact definition before buying matters more than comparing sizes.

Worked example: a 5% daily limit and a 10% maximum means two bad days can end you even if neither day alone looks fatal - $5,000 lost Monday and $5,000 Tuesday on a $100,000 account hits the cumulative line exactly.
